The Punisher Season 2 is locked and loaded for a January release on Netflix

Recently, Netflix dealt a series of blows to fans of the streaming giant's Marvel television lineup with the cancellation of Marvel's IRON FIST, LUKE CAGE, and DAREDEVIL. However, two of the comic book studio's programs are still hanging tough, JESSICA JONES and THE PUNISHER. Today, Netflix has announced that THE PUNISHER Season 2 will arrive in January of next year. Word of the highly-anticipated premiere came by way of a new video on Youtube highlighting the service's January scheduling. Unfortunately, the video has since been removed by the powers that be, so you're just going to have to take me on word that it did indeed exist, earlier this morning. For those of you hoping to narrow the premiere window a bit, you shall go wanting, as Netflix has yet to reveal the exact date that the show will fire off that month. Hey, don't be sad. At least we're still getting a new season of Marvel's vicious vigilante hero, right? Buck up, Buttercup!

Here's the official synopsis for MARVEL'S THE PUNISHER Season 2:

After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.

When THE PUNISHER returns, the sophomore (and likely the last) season will feature Jon Bernthal reprising his role as the grizzled war vet who delights in painting skulls on his tactical gear, Frank Castle. Joining him this time out, as he doles out his own brand of justice, are Ben Barnes, Amber Rose Revah, Jason R. Moore, Josh Stewart, Floriana Lima, and Giorgia Whigham. What? No Deborah Ann Woll? I sure hope that Woll's Karen Page makes an appearance, as I find her and Frank's chemistry to be intoxicating to say the least. Either way, I'm down for another season and then some, though I have a feeling that this will be the last time we see Frank as a part of Netflix's Marvel Universe. Semper Fi, Frankie Boy.

Marvel's THE PUNISHER Season 2 will arrive on Netflix in January of 2019.
