Train to Busan: James Wan producing upcoming remake

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

So Deadline reports that James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring series) will be producing an Americanized remake of the Korean zombie flick Train to Busan, and he has tapped director Timo Tjahjanto to helm it!

Tjahjanto admittedly has an impressive resume, working on the recent Netflix actioner, The Night Comes for Us, as well as Macabre, Killers and a V/H/S 2 segment! Here's hoping he's up to the task.

I for one am, admittedly, weary – especially since I hold Train to Busan in such high regard. Not that I doubt Tjahjanto's talent, but rather am iffy about any Americanized remake of foreign classics. Hopefully this becomes one of the exceptions.

No official release date as of yet, but we'll keep you posted!

So what do you guys think? Fans of the original? If so, looking forward to a remake? Either way, sound off below!

And here's the official synopsis for the original Korean film:

A man (Gong Yoo), his estranged daughter and other passengers become trapped on a speeding train during a zombie outbreak in South Korea.
