Watch David Blaine take to the skies in Up-inspired live stunt

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

David Blaine is no stranger to crazy stunts, and his latest has found him flying high above the Arizona desert using helium balloons. Dubbed Ascension, the UP-inspired stunt lets David Blaine "redefine magic once again for an unprecedented live event at a time when the world could use a positive distraction. Bringing wonder, hope and untethered possibility, David tackles his most ambitious and revolutionary feat yet." The event streamed live on YouTube earlier today, and you can check out the whole thing for yourself up above. If you're looking to jump right into the action, Blaine takes to the skies at about 2:02:55 in the video.

Spoiler alert; David Blaine floated up to 24,900 feet before letting go and parachuting safety to the ground. The live-stunt also shattered a YouTube record as it has become the most-watched YouTube Original Live Event to date with over 770,000 peak concurrent viewers. "David Blaine exceeded expectations once again!" said Susanne Daniels, Global Head of Original Content, YouTube, "What an inspirational moment for viewers all around the world and we’re so thrilled with what he accomplished today live on YouTube." I wonder what Russell would think of all this.
