Another zombie love story? Jonathan Levine cozies up to Warm Bodies

Last Updated on July 26, 2021

There always seem to be dueling projects in all genres, every year or so. But dueling zombie love stories?! That’s just cah-cah-craaaaazzzy!

Sorry ’bout that. Anyway, what we’re talking about here is WARM BODIES, which has just been set up at Summit Entertainment by director Jonathan Levine. You might recognize Levine’s name because he directed ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE, which I’m convinced will never, ever get released. He enjoyed some success with his follow-up, THE WACKNESS, however, and is a hot commodity in Hollywood.

WARM BODIES centers on an existentially tormented zombie who begins an unlikely friendship with the girlfriend of one of his victims and starts a chain reaction that will transform him and his fellow zombies.

The other zombie love story BODIES is competing with is BREATHERS: A ZOMBIE LAMENT, which Diablo Cody is producing (read about its status right HERE).

According to Variety, “Bodies” is based on a book by Isaac Marion who originally self-published the novel and sold it through his web site before the publishing rights were picked up by Atria Books, with publication set for this summer.
