Jurassic World co-star Irrfan Khan talks his character and movie’s tone

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The grand opening of the official JURASSIC WORLD site revealed a few intriguing details about the film, including new information on Simon Masrani, the billionaire played by Irrfan Khan. Masrani is the man responsible for the opening of the dinosaur-filled theme park, so you might call him a modern day John Hammond. At the very least, he’ll be the guy everyone points at when the shit hits then fan and says, “What the f*ck were you thinking?!”

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Khan briefly discussed his “flamboyant” character a bit:

I’m playing the park owner, a very flamboyant person. When the first Jurassic Park came out, I barely had the money to see it and now I’m playing a part. He’s trying to entertain the world with good intentions, but sometimes being flamboyant doesn’t mean having much wisdom.

When asked whether or not this one will have a different vibe from the original film, Khan responds:

For sure it will have more vibe. It’s the Jurassic World of these times, with all the technical experimentation. It has now become a fully-bloomed dinosaur amusement park. Dinosaurs in this film will definitely be scary, but this is not a horror film, so it will be like a scary adventure.
