The Walking Dead lands EW’s cover; Scott Gimple teases ‘new threat’

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We've been seeing a lot of news and images regarding "The Walking Dead", everything from Alex Ross's badass Comic-Con poster teasing season 4, to yesterdays image of an intimate Maggie and Glenn, and today we have word from Entertainment Weekly that AMC's hit zombie series will grace the cover of next weeks issue along with a sneak peek at the highly anticipated fourth season, and we've got the covers to share with you below.

But first, EW spoke with new showrunner Scott M. Gimple and in the interview he teased a new threat for the characters, stating…

The new threat is something you can’t just stab in the face. You can’t talk sense to it. You can’t make a truce with it. It’s beyond all that. It would be a threat in any world, but in this world it is much more terrifying.”

I'm wondering if this new threat has anything to do with the recent image of Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon sporting a bandana over his face. Could there be a sickness or new airborne disease threatening Rick and company? Guess we'll have to wait and find out when "The Walking Dead" returns in October. In the meantime, check out the various covers for next weeks issue of Entertainment Weekly.
