FINALLY the first "real" teaser trailer for the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET redo hit the net this weekend, courtesy of MySpace (that place is good for something after all...) and I have to say I'm really torn about this, so I'm curious to know what you guys will think of it.

On the plus side, there's has an appearance by Clancy Brown and that is ALWAYS good, although he probably won't have that big a role. BUT a few things have me cringing, among others the fact that somebody seems to have forgotten a hot potato in Jackie Earl Haley's mouth. Oh, and we get a glimpse at Freddy's face - kinda looks a little like the new Michael Myers...

I'm still on the up side of this thing if only for Haley whose comeback I hail as even greater then Travolta in PULP FICTION, but... Here's that thing right down there. Let's see what y'all think.

Extra Tidbit: I still can't picture Clancy Brown voicing Mr. Krabs. Does a kick-ass job, I just can't imagine him doing it.

I'm f-ing pumped!!! My only hope is that there is a passing of the torch so to say with a Robert Englund cameo in the movie. I happy they changed the makeup and didnt make it exact to Robert, i dont think it would have worked on Jackie. Strong work so far, Jackie looks GREAT!

The TRAILER for this movie is actually pretty kick-ass! Does that mean anything? No, but lets hope.

And it looks like Haley's performance is going to be right up there with England's, so I believe this will AT LEAST be better than the F13 remake based on that alone (seriously, that voice was just creepy, and similar to England's, albeit more ghastly and less humorous), and it loo...

Guys it's time to crack open your Nightmare DVDs and look for the kills they preview here. Some of them look shot for shot. At least they aren't all from the same movie. I'm going to see it no matter what... I just don't know what's going to be new about it besides the cast and an overabundance of CGI.

still not too sure
It "looks" ok but after reading the script i'm not too sure if it'll be good. I mean, I trust Haley to do a good job, but no matter how good his performance is I doubt the whole movie will be great. Decent....but not great.

I thought the trailer for the Friday the 13th looked good too, but I was not surprised at what a piece of shit it was, I have a feeling this may turn out the same. (Hopefully I am wrong)

I don't know why everyone is complaining about the face. You can only really see part of his face in decent lighting and the rest is in shadows, not nearly enough to make a solid judgement on. But from what we can see I like what they've done, actually looks like a burn victim.

I want this to be awesome for two reasons:
1. Freddy is awesome.
2.Jackie Earl Haley is awesome.
But seriously, I'm sure no one wants this to be a failure. I didn't care for the Halloween remake or the new Jason. So I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I think Jackie is THE choice to replace Mr. Englund. Even if the movie sucks.......at least Freddie will be cool.

Now I can't comment on how close this is to the original since I'm not a hardcore fan and don't really remember it, but as a horror film it looks generic and useless. Typical good looking leads being hacked off one by one with the same visual style as the last 10 remakes. Dark, ominous shadows with high def. film making.

I thought maybe they'd take a chance on something differe...

meh...the only thing that looks interesting is Freddy running scared and questioning what they think he's done. I suppose it could be interesting if he was innocent and murdered by the parents.

Clancy actually plays a decent role in the film. He plays Quentins father. My friends son was cast as the child version of Quentin so they filmed together and there is some decent screen time for Clancy.

Not a fan of these kind of movies. Never seen the originals. But Kellan Lutz is in it (Twilight saga) and the kid from The Horsemen. Jackie Earl Haley looks awesome.

Eh, could go either way. The factory stuff looked pretty sweet, but the rest of it was really nothing new. And even though it's a very brief shot, the face looks kinda lame. I'll wait for Arrow's review.

All of the Michael Bay horror remakes suck. Friday the 13th was just god awful the only thing this movie has going for it is Haley but in my mind there is only one freddy.

i'm in. sure platinum dunes has let us down in the past (friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw: the beginning) but i like the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Haley did not disappoint in Watchmen, and i'm looking forward to seeing him in more genre films which seem to be his niche. plus Clancy Brown is always great.

I really want this to be good, and the trailer looks pretty cool. My only concern is it's from Platinum Dunes, which has yet to make a good movie in my opinion.

All in all, looks good so far. Dumping the humor and cheesy one-liners which really killed the series e.g. Freddy cracked so many jokes that he eventually became a joke.

I wonder though, does Freddy's look appear different to each of his victims in their one on one confrontations? Possibly explaining the "sandbag" face? Similar to how the Scarecrow looks different to people from...

I have been a huge of this series since the 80s. When I seen his face & heard his voice all I could do was sigh. Looks horrible.

And no, winks & nods to the previous films don't impress me in the least. Especially when those winks & nods are coupled with what looks to be the single worst incarnation of Freddy I've ever seen.

I think this looks awesome! I'm a HUGE freddy/nightmare fan and true fans would notice a lot of elements from the other films they have in there. One being the girl burning herself with a car lighter just like the girl used cigs to stay awake in dream warriors. And the kid standing on...well something high I couldn't tell but that was from dream warriors. The original nancy in the bathtub scene...

But you gotta remember this is a remake so there isn't wrong with them changing anything, the original st still the original will still be the same. We have that, so let's see a different take on it. Anyway I'm really pumped for this and can't wait. I respect everyone else opinions though

Sad day for Nightmare on Elm Street fans.
Freddy looks pathetic. I was never for this remake to begin with, but I didn't expect them to ruin something so simple so badly. Freddy doesn't look scary, he now looks generic as hell. Looks almost like Jet Li's The Mummy (before he becomes normal looking :P).

Michael Bay's horror movies always have pretty decent trailers and it was nice seeing freddy back (except for that face shot, what the fuck?!) I'm glad they have some of the same kills in there, but i'm really not expecting anything from this..

Part of what made the other remakes successful (such as Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc...) was that the main villains looked like themselves. Here Freddy looks like Gary Oldman from Hannibal wearing Freddy's sweater. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw that.

I like the new face...looks more realistic and scarier! And he's much more articulate than Billy Bob in Slingblade. Looks good so far! Shows that Elm Street still stands out.
I like the new face...looks more realistic and scarier! And he's much more articulate than Billy Bob in Slingblade. Looks good so far! Shows that Elm Street still stands out.

Looks pretty good. All I've heard so far is Freddy looks different and his voice is different. Well, if you are almost burned to death, you can't have a funny voice and a smiley face. Plus, this comes out in like 8 months, so there is still plenty of work to do. I can't wait for the movie.

Not as bad as I thought . . .
I've come to accept that any movie that I loved growing up is probably going to suck balls when remade. I've also come to grips with the fact that I'm an adult now and most things horror related aren't going to scare me anymore. I'm also at the age where I go back and watch my favorite horror movies and realize that, for the most part, they are all pretty cheesy.

I've also come to grips with the fact that I'm an adult now and most things horror related aren't going to scare me anymore. I'm also at the age where I go back and watch my favorite horror movies and realize that, for the most part, they are all pretty cheesy.

At this point in my life, I continue to watch horror movies simply for fun and with no expectations. I know going in that the script is going to be weak and the actors are probably going to suck, but what really has changed? Don’t get me wrong, there are a few exceptions, but even those exceptions are up for debate based on personal perspectives. Nowadays, I really enjoy being in a room full of people who still get freaked out by these movies. Their reactions make the movie that much more fun for me.

I’ll probably still see this movie regardless, because I have a soft spot for NOES. I’m going in knowing that it’s not going to be like the original, that I’m probably going to be disappointed, and that JEH is going to put his all into Freddy. In my opinion, this movie is going to be nothing more and nothing less . . . I hope I’m wrong!

After seeing that, I really don't see the point of this. Just looks like a typical remake with nothing new or original to offer. I also froze the screen on Freddy's face and it didn't look good.

It looks like halfassed cgi. I thought we were getting parts melted flesh falling off and a more scary looking kreuger.

He looks like the evil wizard dude from the harry potter movies...

It is just a first trailer so I am trying to calm myself by saying the makeup effects may not be done ...

I never really cared much for the original (I think that bizarre ending is what did me in), but this one doesn't look too bad...I guess it's too early to tell whether it will really suck or not.

1) The part of the original that did impress/creep me out was the death scene of the girl that was crawling up on the ceiling, and seeing as they have that death in this movie, I can't see how it could be as shocking as the scene in the original or how they could top it in general. I can't really think of a way one could make it any 'better' without being overly gratuitous which is something I think, while gross, the scene in the original avoided.

2) ...And I could be totally wrong on this and it could just be one of the filters used to achieve the greenish grainy look, but it looks like there is some CGI retouching on Kruger's face at the end, so maybe it's really so nasty they had to tone it down for the trailer? Either way it doesn't matter to me; I think it's what someone does that makes them scary, not how they look (i.e. Marcia Gay Harden in The Mist).

It's easily the least scary of the big slasher franchises, and the need to add humor as a supplement reinforces that fact.

If they can make some hay out of Freddy being wrongly murdered, AND make it actually scary, and not just an exercise in misogyny - then it might be worthwhile.

This is going to be a forsure midnight viewing for me but it looks to be another wimpy remake with mid 20 something adults playing teenagers getting the hack and slash. Looks to be much more of a remake than a re-envisioning. fingers crossed we get a real horror movie and not a teen scream pos.

if they want me to see these horror remakes they really need to stop starting the trailers with "from producer Michael Bay". thats not gonna make me excited at all.

As for the movie itself, i guess it doesnt look terrible but i want a full trailer before i start passing any judgement. its tough to say i hate it when i only got 1 second of seeing Freddy and 2 seconds of Freddy ta...

However, I agee that the voice and the face are weak - he looks like one of the aliens from "Close Encounters!" Reserving judgement for now . . . until they confirm it as PG-13 (have they?) Then it becomes a rental curiosity for me.

Actually looks pretty creepy. Bayer has a great visual style. Not sure how I feel about the voice though, kinda sounds like Edgar from Men In Black. Time will tell. Michael Bay DID produce this thing so it's up in the air.
