If you ever, EVER wondered in what kind of universe a sequel to SHOWGIRLS would happen, well wonder no longer: you're living in it. Scared shitless aren't ya? Get a diaper, 'cause it won't get better.

According to German publication/site Extratipp, writer/director Marc Vorlander has been developing a follow-up called SHOWGIRLS: STORY OF HOPE, one centered on the original's minor character Hope played then -and now- by model/actress Rena Riffel. Actress being a loosely used term.

The project, says the trade, is so "good" it attracted two Hollywood producers and a $25M budget for production in Frankfurt. Wish I could tell you who those producers are and what kind of f*cked-up weed they smoke, but my German goes as far as Google Translation's... The darn thing did manage to get me a "decent" plotline decrypted though: "It's about stripper who died from a dose of contaminated cocaine. Her brother comes to Frankfurt to find the responsible and revenge." Biting my nails already.

Obviously I can't say I'm a fan of the original, not even in a love-how-its-bad way, so I'd call on those who are to weigh in. What do you guys think?

Showgirls is a masterpiece of awful cinema. I have spoken to Rena quite a bit this year and she has hinted at this, not sure if she did any writing for it or not. She's actually a really lovely person.

The original was total garbage, not even all the boobies & ass could save that ship wreck. A sequel.....I guess that cannot do any worse than the first one, or can they??????

I enjoy the original but this is not going to be as entertaining. It's obvious they're only doing this because of how notorious the first one is.

OMG i just peed a little
I want this soooo badly !!!!the first one is so delightfully trashy, and let me tell you makes for an excellent drinking game! god i love the first one, its like at least # 4 on my so bad its good list. I say get this shit into production as fast as possible!

It wasn't a great film but after watching saved by the bell for many years, that pool scene kept me warm on many a night.

Of course, then my father found it and took it to throw away and we kept finding it in his room years after that, hmmm......

I'm not really game for a sequel to Showgirls, but I guess it could work.
With that said, I really enjoyed the
heck out of Showgirls, and no, I don't think it was so bad it's good, I really
really liked it, but then I am easily pleased.
