Movies are known for showcasing dysfunctional family after dysfunctional family, but the one at the heart of THE FAMILY FANG may have just bumped its way into the discussion for the strangest.

Adapted from Kevin Wilson's 2011 novel of the same name, THE FAMILY FANG is centered around an infamous family unit who became known for their outlandish performance art over the years, which incorporated their young children. Those children are all grown up now, in the form of Nicole Kidman and Jason Bateman, who has also returned to the director's chair for the first time since BAD WORDS in order to helm the film. And as they deal with the complicated lives they've been thrust into as a result of their upbringing while trying to decipher whether their parents (Christopher Walken and Maryann Plunkett) are truly missing this time or in the middle of more artistic expression, we get to watch the introspection unfold.

The film was received positively, including by our own Chris Bumbray, at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, and is now on the doorstep to being seen wide.

THE FAMILY FANG will have a limited release in New York on April 29, before it gets a day-and-date release nationwide and on iTunes on May 6.
