Fans of Eli Roth's Netflix original series Hemlock Grove, based on the book by Brian McGreevy, can rest easy, as the series has been renewed for a second season with a 10-episode order (the first season had 13 episodes). Reviews for the first season were mixed, but ultimately, fans flocked to it.

"The worldwide fan response to 'Hemlock Grove' was phenomenal," said Executive Producer Eli Roth. "Netflix members loved the potent combination of sexy monsters, mystery, and the dark family soap opera that ended with a huge twist, leaving audiences worldwide totally shocked. Season One was just a warm up for what we have in store for season two. Get ready to be scared in ways you never expected."

The show will add seasoned showrunner Charles H. “Chic” Eglee to the executive produer line-up, which brings considerable clout based on his work on shows like The Shield, Dexter, and The Walking Dead.

"In its first season, Eli, Brian, Lee and the team did an incredible job of introducing viewers to a unique world of memorable characters," said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix. "Chic's addition to the show, and his experience on such fan favorites as 'The Shield,' 'The Walking Dead' and 'Dexter,' will heighten the intensity of the mystery that grips 'Hemlock Grove.'"

I enjoyed the hell out of Hemlock Grove, personally. It was a dark, fun, atmospheric ride into a contemporary gothic world. I won't say that is was refined or perfect, but once I got past the first two episodes there was no way I was turning back. Although author Brian McGreevy has yet to have the follow-up book released, he has previously announced his agenda for a three-part story, so it will be interesting to see this develop. Either way, I'm excited to take another trip to Hemlock Grove.

Season Two will go into production this year with an eye towards release in 2014. Eli Roth's next film, THE GREEN INFERNO is expected to be released sometime this year.

SPOILERS!!

that part where the kid rubs (can't remember) all over his face and let the girl transform into a wolf and rip his fucking face off. WTF was the point to letting her do that? There wasn't much of an explanation for many of the character's motives, so we definitely need more seasons. If the response was so overwhelming positive why only 10 episodes?

He rubbed bacon grease on himself so the other wolf would eat his face, it was the only way he could transform while not under a full moon... they explain for I don't know... 3 quarters of the episode.

I pretty sure they didn't spend three quarters of the episode explaining it, but I've been wrong before. Maybe I was stoned. It had to be his face though huh, couldn't just maul him to death? Put a little bacon grease on his throat maybe. Shit, I'd rather have my throat ripped out than my face ripped off.

Worth a watch..

This is good news. Although predictable towards the end it was the excellent chemistry between Bill Skarsgard and Landon Liboiron that kept me interested. Cant wait for season 2, hopefully they will have a bigger budget and can show more than 1 werewolf shift this time around.
