After 14 years the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movies are still coming our way, with PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES on the vast horizon. Promotion has been on the less active side, though, as we’ve only gotten a teaser and a Super Bowl spot, despite the movie’s release in May. However, things may be starting to heat up now with the arrival of the first main poster yesterday and today seeing the release of a brand-spanking new trailer. Argh! Ye should be heading down below deck to behold this action-packed trailer! Sorry, my parrot got a hold of my keyboard for a second.
Anyway, POTC 5 sees the return of series lead Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, this time having to avoid the icy clutches of zombie/Danny DeVito in BATMAN RETURNS pirate, Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem). The movie looks like pretty fun stuff, and will hopefully recall the originality of the first film. The movie will also see the return of Orlando Bloom as Will Turner (who's not present in the trailer), who has been away for the last decade as captain of the Flying Dutchman. He spent that time filming a documentary about the collapsing coral reef. Thrilling stuff.
