Stallone responds to both critics and fans with a blunt statement regarding The Expendables 3

Nov. 5, 2012by:

The Expendables 2 team explosive background

Before THE EXPENDABLES 2 even kicked down cinema doors back in August there was already talk of a third movie and what new actors might be integrated into the explosive team of awesomely-named and overly-violent mercenaries. Director talk has been bandied about, with the likes of John Woo heading up the list of fan hopefuls. And now Sylvester Stallone himself has decided to step in and add fuel to the fire he began back with the first movie by sharing an update on his Facebook page which covers 1) where a second sequel is now and 2) what he thinks about what fans and critics alike think of the series. Check it out below, and strike back below that with your thoughts!

"We are preparing the film with the same passion and commitment as the previous two. We have confirmed Nicolas Cage, a master actor who gives a veneer intellectual group. Hopefully we can realize to Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke. That is the great mission of the producer. We will continue with the same narrative scheme, the agility and the frenzy, which are inherent to the saga. What will definitely be the last? I can not guarantee. In principle it would be two deliveries, but the affection of the people encouraged us to work on a third. I guess as long as we amused ourselves by offering fun and people, we can continue playing 'The Expendables'. For now we are not as expendable as it should and as some critics want."

Do you think Stallone's just being optimistic about Ford, or does his mention of the name in this sort of public forum imply that talks are a bit further along than we all might have previously thought?

Nan Yu, will you come back too? I hope you do!

Extra Tidbit: Wish I could have been there for the initial naming session. Toll Road. Lee Christmas. Barney Ross. Great f**king names.

Loved both movies

But i still want the asian spin off series, with Jet Li's character taking the action to china with other action stars from the other side of the world.

How epic would that be.

second one was fantastic!

was totally blown away by it, bring on the third and I hope to see Jet back as well! He was only in Ex2 for a little but MAN did he kick a surprisingly large amount of ass during that short amount of time. Would love to see them get another martial artist to go 1 on 1 with him... hell Chow-Yun Fat would be perfect. Donnie Yen would be a good choice too

Chan v Li

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Jackie Chan? I would love to see Jet Li face up Chan. It would be a nice twist to see Jackie Chan play a villain.

Mr. President

How about they work on getting Obama for part three? I'm told he single handedly killed Bin Laden. Plus he might be looking for work this week and it's always good to have something lined up.

Love the expendables and look forward to whatever third chapter they produce

Now can someone tell me why Stallone's statement reads like it was translated directly from Swedish?

But then, he does have a point: they really aren't as expendable as they should, ya know?

Bring it on!

Nic Cage is a brilliant new addition. And SNIPES! It would be a triumphant return for him, as part of an already established & successful franchise. Fuck yeah, can't wait!

always bet on black

good news on Cage, but adding Snipes (a great choice) stalls production until his July release, right? Not that thats a bad thing. Time to develope the script is a positive.

Cool more Expendables!

Nic Cage is a welcome addition especially if he's in batshit insane villian mode. Snipes also deserves some love, then get Michael Biehn in there too please!
