Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Amazon Studios has allowed a new trailer for THE AERONAUGHTS to take flight. Based on true events, the upcoming adventure stars Eddie Redmayne (THE DANISH GIRL, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM)  as James Glaisher and Felicity Jones (THE THEROY OF EVERYTHING, LIKE CRAZY) as Amelia Wren.

Produced and directed by Tom Harper (WAR & PEACE, PEAKY BLINDERS), the new high-flying and heart-stopping feature reunites Jones and Redmayne, who starred alongside one another in 2014's THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING from director James Marsh. The intense and exploratory journey written by Jack Thorne (WONDER, HIS DARK MATERIALS) also stars Himesh Patel (YESTERDAY), Tom Courtenay (THE GOLDEN COMPASS), Anne Reid (KALEIDOSCOPE), Rebecca Front (TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT), Vincent Perez (RIVIERA), Tim McInnerny (GAME OF THRONES), and Phoebe Fox (ONE DAY, EYE IN THE SKY).

Here's the official synopsis for THE AERONAUTS:

In 1862, daredevil balloon pilot Amelia Wren (Felicity Jones) teams up with pioneering meteorologist James Glaisher (Eddie Redmayne) to advance human knowledge of the weather and fly higher than anyone in history. While breaking records and advancing scientific discovery, their voyage to the very edge of existence helps the unlikely pair find their place in the world they have left far below them. But they face physical and emotional challenges in the thin air, as the ascent becomes a fight for survival.

THE AERONAUTS is poised to unfurl its ropes and fly into theaters on December 6th, before sailing onto Amazon on December 20th.

In addition to today's new trailer for the pulse-pounding and exploratory expedition, Amazon Studios released a new poster for this film online.
