FACE OFF: The JoBlo original series that puts two worthy foes in the ring for an epic clash! Whether it’s a pair of movies, actors, iconic characters, franchises, originals vs. remakes, directors, or whatever else we can think of, it’s time for a showdown!

In this episode, it’s a Battle of the Suicide Squads! David Ayer’s 2016 adaptation of the DC Comics supervillain team Suicide Squad was a surprise box office hit followed just five years later by James Gunn’s R-rated twist on the property with the 2021 release The Suicide Squad. But which group of costumed antiheroes is the ultimate disposable superteam? Only one way to find out: FACE OFF!!

On the one hand, financially, David Ayer’s Suicide Squad is the clear winner, grossing $746 million worldwide compared to The Suicide Squad’s disastrous $167 million. However, the latter came out simultaneously in theatres and on HBO Max and at the height of the Delta Variant surge that saw many theatres shutter. Critically, The Suicide Squad is the champ with a 90% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes vs Suicide Squad’s 26%. But what about the cast (Will Smith & Jared Leto vs Idris Elba & John Cena), music, action and more? We dig into all of that right here!

Which Suicide Squad movie do you like better? Let us know in the comments!

FACE OFF is produced and narrated by Dave Davis, written by Bryan Wolford, edited by Ric Solomon and executive produced by Berge Garabedian.
