AITH Horror Videos of the Week: Wes Craven, Deadly Friend, Seven, The Fly 2!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The week is complete, another Friday is here, and every Friday we gather all of the latest additions to our JoBlo Horror YouTube channel (check it out and subscribe HERE) together in one place. It's the AITH HORROR VIDEOS OF THE WEEK!

This week we looked back at the 1986 Wes Craven film DEADLY FRIEND to ask WTF HAPPENED TO THIS HORROR MOVIE?, kicked off a new show called SHOW ME THE SEQUEL with our pitch for a follow-up to 1995's SEVEN, dug further into the career of the legendary Wes Craven as we inducted him into our HORROR HALL OF FAME, and stood up for THE FLY 2 with a new episode of THE F*CKING BLACK SHEEP. All of these videos can be seen below.

DEADLY FRIEND (1986) – WTF Happened to this Horror Movie?!

After coming off the mammoth success of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET in 1984, Wes Craven, who was offered a job to direct A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY’S REVENGE, passed on that to head to Warner Bros, hoping to branch out from the horror genre by signing on to direct a science-fiction thriller called FRIEND, which was to be the vein of John Carpenter’s STARMAN.

The end result was a film that was nothing at all like the gentle tale Craven had hoped to make. The Studio LOVED what he did with Elm Street so much that they slowly but surely pushed him into turning FRIEND into a more Elm Street like effort. In many ways, it is the most controversial entry in his filmography, so join us as we take a look at WTF HAPPENED TO DEADLY FRIEND!?

SEVEN (1995) – Show Me the Sequel!

Welcome to our new horror living webseries SHOW ME THE SEQUEL! The focus of this show is all about genre films that either never got sequels and we feel it's long overdue, fine movies that did get sequels but they were so lackluster that going back to square one is a must, or… flicks that DO have sequels but hey, we want freaking MORE of them! On top of that, we put our pitch for what said sequel should be about!

Our first episode focuses on David Fincher's horror thriller and now genre classic SEVEN aka SE7EN starring Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey, R. Lee Ermey and John C. McGinley. SEVEN is of course about: "Two detectives, a rookie and a veteran, hunt a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as his motives."

Tap the embed and find out WHY we think SEVEN should get a sequel and HOW we would go about it!

WES CRAVEN – Horror Hall of Fame

In our latest Horror Hall of Fame, we took a look at the illustrious career of writer/director WES CRAVEN who sadly passed away on August 30, 2015. Although NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and SCREAM were huge game changers in terms of the genre and will probably be what Wes will always be remembered for; the man offered us so much more than those two properties and has influenced our beloved genre in more ways than one. Hence, sit down, pour a cold one and join us as we induct Mr. Craven into our Horror Hall of Fame and celebrate the man, his art & his career! CHEERS WES! We love you.

Series M.O.: What does it take to become a Horror icon? Whether it be the Filmmakers orchestrating the frights, the Artists crafting the gore, or the Actors engineering the scares, this series takes an in-depth look at the men and women who paved the way for the way for an entire generation of horror fans, and made the genre what it is today.

THE FLY 2 (1989) – The Black Sheep

On this week's THE BLACK SHEEP episode, we take a stand and argue in favor of Chris Walas helmed THE FLY 2. A critical and commercial failure, this hasn't quite found the cult status it rightfully deserves. Starring Eric Stoltz and written by Mick Garris with a little help from none other than Frank Darabont. We believe THE FLY 2 is a fun effects-driven B-Monster movie that deserves a re-visit.

THE FLY 2 is about: " The almost-human son of "Brundlefly" searches for a cure to his mutated genes while being monitored by a nefarious corporation that wishes to continue his father's experiments."
