The first trailer has arrived for Dwayne Johnson‘s new actioner SNITCH, which co-stars The Walking Dead’s Jon Bernthal, Benjamin Bratt, Nadine Velasquez, Barry Pepper, and…Susan Sarandon?  What the hell?  The Rock stars as a father trying to free his incarcerated son by going undercover as a “snitch” in a cartel.  It’s got a low-budget vibe with reputable stars, but feels a little beneath Johnson’s potential.

Go undercover:

I don’t know, man.  This looks like a rental to me, but there’s no denying Johnson’s considerable screen presence.  Having Bernthal and Sarandon in it does add some clout, as both of them have delivered some strong performances and are generally good actors.  The premise is a little tired, but there’s always hope that Johnson could carry the pic, which comes from veteran stunt coordinator Rich Waugh.

SNITCH hits theaters on February 22, 2013.

But, hey, Nadine Velasquez, amiright?
