David O. Russell‘s AMERICAN HUSTLE (previously AMERICAN BULLSHIT) has had several set photos leaked showcasing the glorious facial hair and coifs on stars Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, and Jeremy Renner. But, it truly didn’t hit me how amazing these actors would look until this official photos hit the Internet.

Courtesy of USA Today, behold Bradley Cooper‘s disturbingly dark beard and curly as hell afro. Bask in the wonton power of Christian Bale‘s comb-over. Change your shorts in reverence for Amy Adams cleavage!

In all seriousness, I can’t tell if David O. Russell is making a comedy/satire of the Abscam scandal from late 1970s/early 1980s. What we do know is this:

Reunited with members of his Fighter and Silver Linings acting teams, Russell focuses on the intersection of the government and the Mob in the New York area in the late ’70 and ’80s, applying his textured realism to a world of entrapment, stylish swagger and raw humor.

The article also shares character details about all of the main characters in an extended breakdown of who they play. Bale plays con-man Irving Rosenfeld, Cooper plays FBI agent Richie DiMaso, Adams plays Bale’s lover Sydney and Jennifer Lawrence plays Bale’s wife Rosalyn. Renner plays Camden, NJ mayor Carmine Polito.

Everyone involved looks to be doing something different than what we have expected from them. This also looks very different from any of director Russell’s prior films. I am excited to see how AMERICAN HUSTLE turns out when it opens on December 25, 2013.
