If there’s one trend in Hollywood that does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon, it’s comic book movies. I’m not just talking about the heavy hitters from Marvel and DC either. While plenty of characters have become so embedded into pop culture that it’s hard to imagine someone that hasn’t at least heard of Spider-man or Batman, it’s not as likely the average movie goer knew the characters from RED or KICK ASS before the films came out. Or that ROAD TO PERDITION is based on a graphic novel. Which means if there’s some slightly indie comic you’re into, there’s a good chance some studio is going to snag the rights and try to make a film.

THR has an exclusive that Twentieth Century Fox has picked up the rights to the Dark Horse comic, Mind MGMT. The comic is written by Matt Kindt (3 Story: The Secret History of the Giant Man) and is his first ongoing series. Ridley Scott is on board to produce (but not direct) through his Fox based banner, Scott Free. It will also be produced with members of Dark Horse Entertainment. They are currently searching for a screenwriter.

Mind MGMT is about “a government agency consisting of psychic spies and their greatest asset, Henry Lime. After he suffers a breakdown and loses control of his abilities, causing the populace of a town to kill one another, he goes on the run. Several years later, a true-crime author named Meru, who was part of a flight where everyone mysteriously developed amnesia, is saved by Lime and begins to investigate the agency, uncovering her own secret connection to it.”

More as this develops.
