A new Hellboy is on the way courtesy of one of the mad minds behind the Crank series. Brian Taylor, one-half of the Taylor/Neveldine directing partners, is helming the new adaptation Hellboy: The Crooked Man. This will be the third feature film incarnation of the Dark Horse comic after Guillermo Del Toro‘s two films, with Ron Perlman in the role, and the 2019 reboot with David Harbour. Hellboy creator Mike Mignola has recently confirmed on his Instagram account that the principle photography on Hellboy: The Crooked Man has wrapped.

Mignola’s post consists of an image from the comic and he writes,
“So they’ve wrapped principal photography on the new HELLBOY movie.
I wasn’t on set for this one but they have been nice enough to send me dailies and I have to say I have loved what I’ve been seeing. If fans have been waiting for a Hellboy film that is actually an adaptation of one of my stories I think they are finally going to get one.
Congratulations to director Brian Taylor and a really wonderful cast–And to co-writer Chris Golden who did so much to figure out how to give the studio what they wanted and still keep true to the heart and soul of THE CROOKED MAN, my favorite of the Hellboy stories.
I wish Richard Corben was still around to see this–They did a wonderful job bringing his really horrific character to life.”

Richard Corben, who he refers to, was an illustrator on the original pulp comic.

Actor Jack Kesy will be strapping on the horns and giant arm this time around for the new reboot. It would not be his first foray intermingling with the comic book movie world. Kesy was also featured in Deadpool 2 as a character named Black Tom and had also co-starred with Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, in the action film 12 Strong. In addition, Brian Taylor had adapted the Marvel Comics character Ghost Rider onto the big screen with the 2011 film Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance with Nicolas Cage reprising the role. Hellboy: The Crooked Man was produced through the film company, Millennium Media.
