Jason Goes to Hell director is planning a Creighton Duke-inspired movie

The FRIDAY THE 13TH sequel JASON GOES TO HELL: THE FINAL FRIDAY is usually a "love it or hate it" entry among the fans, but no matter which side a viewer falls on, we can usually all agree that the bounty hunter character Creighton Duke, who was wonderfully played by Steven Williams, was a total badass. Even if it makes no sense that this expert on Jason Voorhees was only now showing up in the ninth film of the franchise and carrying a back story where he had encountered Jason before – the guy was cool.

Twenty-five years later, JASON GOES TO HELL director Adam Marcus is plotting to bring Creighton Duke back. In a way. While making a guest appearance on the Cinema Toast Crunchcast podcast, Marcus revealed:

I have a movie … that is a completely Creighton Duke-inspired movie. That we're doing next year. I can tell you that I’m talking with Steven Williams about this. I’m dead serious about this movie. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for years. For me, that was the character that I gave a crap about. That’s the guy that I adore. And, I’m tellin’ ya, I have something up my sleeve that’s gonna knock people out."

Note that Marcus describes it as a "Creighton Duke-inspired" movie, not simply a "Creighton Duke movie". Williams probably couldn't play the Duke in the film, because they wouldn't have the rights to use a character who is tied in with the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise. But if Williams is playing a character who calls himself something other than Creighton Duke, then there's no problem, even if he acts just like Creighton Duke.

And if you don't like Creighton Duke for some reason, maybe you could pretend the character in Marcus's new film is monster hunter Rufus Turner, Williams' character from the TV show Supernatural.

Regardless of what the character is named, I'm totally up for watching a new movie where Williams plays a badass bounty hunter again. We'll keep you updated as Marcus pushes this one forward.
