Thirty-two years have passed since the Chiodo Brothers' KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE (watch it HERE) was first released, and it's shocking that we haven't gotten a sequel at any point in that time. Fans have been wanting to see a KILLER KLOWNS 2, the Chiodos have been wanting to make it. It seems like every couple years, if not every couple months, we hear some kind of update on the sequel's status, there has even been talk of a television series, but then it never goes anywhere.

The Chiodos are behind the animated short ALIEN XMAS that was recently released on the Netflix streaming service – as with KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE, Stephen Chiodo directed the short and produced it with his brothers Charles and Edward. While doing the press rounds for ALIEN XMAS, Stephen Chiodo confirmed that he has been talking to Netflix about the long-awaited KILLER KLOWNS sequel:

We are talking to them. We're talking all the time. Get this: we've been trying to do a sequel since we made the film and fans get angry with us. We don't mention it too much, because they get angry. They say, 'Oh, what's the matter with you guys?' But we're trying. The business is just a bear, moves at a glacial pace. There's interest, and it wanes and flows. You get some executives who really want to do it, then, all of a sudden, musical chairs. They're out, a new regime is in, and they don't get it. We'll see how ALIEN XMAS does with the Netflix people. We'll see if they can embrace our sensibility."

Chiodo also encouraged fans who want a KILLER KLOWNS 2 to reach out to MGM, the studio that holds the rights to the KILLER KLOWNS.

MGM controls Killer Klowns. If [fans] write MGM and say, 'Where's our sequel? Where's that property?' There's so many ways they can exploit this thing. It's really the fan base. The fan base has to be more vocal to MGM more than us, because they control it."

At this point, I'm not going to believe that KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE is going to get any sort of follow-up until I have the sequel or TV show right in front of me – but I would love to see it happen.
