Just the other day, while taking in a screening of Warner Bros.' HARLEY QUINN: BIRDS OF PREY, I got to see the trailer for WONDER WOMAN 1984 up on the big screen, and I'll be damned if that movie doesn't look like it's going to kick all manners of ass! As a child of the '80s, I can't help but feel excited by the era in which director Patty Jenkins has decided to showcase Diana's latest adventure, and once New Order's "Blue Monday" starts making those theater speakers rattle and hum, all I want to do is ride the lightning alongside DC's warrior princess and shout let's go!

Today the fine folks over at Entertainment Weekly have revealed a new cover image featuring Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. In the vibrant and colorful pic, the Princess Of Themyscira is sporting her golden battle armor, complete with razor-sharp wings and her trusty Lasso of Truth. It's a stunning image to say the least, and one that makes DC's amazing Amazon look more formidable than ever.

In addition to the cover image that shines above this very sentence, EW also debuted seven new pics from Jenkins' hotly-anticipated sequel WONDER WOMAN 1984:

Here's the official synopsis for WONDER WOMAN 1984:

Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah.  Principal photography is underway on Warner Bros. Pictures’ follow up to the Super Hero’s first outing, last summer’s record-breaking “Wonder Woman,” which took in $822 million at the worldwide box office.  “Wonder Woman 1984” will also be helmed by acclaimed director Patty Jenkins, and star Gal Gadot in the title role.

As previously announced, the film also stars Kristen Wiig in the role of the Super-Villain The Cheetah, as well as Pedro Pascal.  And Chris Pine returns as Steve Trevor.

Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Patty Jenkins, Stephen Jones and Gal Gadot are producing the film.  Rebecca Roven Oakley, Richard Suckle, Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns and Walter Hamada are the executive producers.

When Wonder Woman returns to theaters, Diana's newest tale of action and adventure during a time of synth-soaked tunes and big hair will find her matching wits with Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal), the executive of a major corporation who'll stop at nothing to preside over an unassuming public. While navigating Lord's nefarious schemes, the Goddess of Truth will also trade sharpened swipes with Barbara Ann Minerva (Kristen Wiig), who in time is transformed into the feisty feline foe Cheetah. New challenges await the warrior princess as she confronts a brave new era controlled by media, music, and a megalomaniac on the rise.

There's a lot riding on WONDER WOMAN 1984, given that the character's 2017 smash grossed $821 million at the worldwide box office. It's to be understood that sequels tend to make less money than their predecessors (not counting Marvel's AVENGERS: ENDGAME, of course), but if analysts have learned anything from the character's previous release, it's not to doubt the awesome power and appeal that is Wonder Woman.

WONDER WOMAN 1984 will open in theaters on June 5th.
