Last week I brought you the first teaser for MANDELA: LONG WALK TO FREEDOM. Idris Elba is nothing short of spectacular but all we got was a voice over coupled with a beautiful aerial shot. We saw Idris as Mandela walking through the plain surrounded by his children.
The first theatrical trailer shows us why Idris Elba needs the recognition he deserves as an actor. The guy is spot on in the role. It’s ridiculous how good he is. I’m also entertaining the fact that we just recently saw him in PACIFIC RIM. Here the true story is fleshed out, and you become more familiar with Nelson Mandela’s journey to fight for freedom. Naomie Harris also looks great as Mandela’s wife Winnie. The script is adapted from Mandela’s autobiography that shares the same name as the film’s title.
Synopsis: A chronicle of Nelson Mandela’s life journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically elected president of South Africa.
