Jason Momoa leads post-apocalyptic tribe in trailer for See from Apple TV+

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

During today's Apple event, the release date and subscription cost of their upcoming streaming service, Apple TV+, was revealed (more on that later), but we also got a look at one of the series' which will be launching with the service, See. Taking place centuries after a virus has decimated humankind and left its survivors blind, the post-apocalyptic series finds Jason Momoa (AQUAMAN) starring as Baba Voss, a warrior and leader of a small tribe. When his wife gives birth to twins with the ability to see, Voss must protect his tribe against a powerful yet desperate queen who believes it's witchcraft and wants the twins destroyed.

Judging by the trailer, Apple has certainly spared no expense on See. According to the Wall Street Journal, each episode is costing close to $15 million, which is similar to what HBO spent for the episodes of the final season of Game of Thrones. It's definitely there on the screen however, as the world looks mighty impressive and I'm curious to learn just how centuries of blindness has shaped their society. See has been scripted by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) and directed by Francis Lawrence (RED SPARROW). Now, back to Apple TV+, the streaming service is slated to launch on November 1, 2019 and will cost just $4.99 a month, which positions it as the cheapest of the major streaming services. You will also get a free year of Apple TV+ when you purchase a new iPhone, iPad, or Mac from the next generation of each device. Not bad, but as Apple TV+ doesn't have the same library to draw upon that Disney+, Netflix, and the other big streaming services do, they need all the help they can get in order to draw their audience during this first year.

The official synopsis for See:

In the far future, a virus has decimated humankind. Those who survived emerged blind. Jason Momoa stars as Baba Voss, the father of twins born centuries later with the mythic ability to see—who must protect his tribe against a powerful yet desperate queen who believes it’s witchcraft and wants them destroyed. Alfre Woodard also stars as Paris, Baba Voss’ spiritual leader.

See will drop on Apple TV+ on November 1, 2019.
