Michael Sheen, David Tennant fight off Armageddon in Good Omens trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The end of the world, in the Biblical sense, would be a horrendous thing for all life on earth to experience, but from the standpoint of the angels and demons in the mix of it all it seems like a goddammed delight. The evidence is all there in the first official trailer for the Amazon Prime series GOOD OMENS, brought to us by Neil Gaiman (based on the book by him and Terry Pratchett) and starring Michael Sheen and David Tennant as an angel and a demon trying desperately to stop the apocalypse from ending the world they’ve grown very fond of. At this point I would welcome the end of the world if it meant paling around with these two, clinking champagne glasses and wearing cool sunglasses.

The trailer is undeniably cool and filled with a colorful cast of characters other than Sheen and Tennant, like Jon Hamm’s archangel Gabriel, who seems very in favor of the war between heaven and hell. Gaiman acts as showrunner and writer here (Pratchett passed away in 2015), having also worked on the Starz adaptation of his other book, AMERICAN GODS. The series looks like a ton of fun and a refreshing take on Armageddon, with the main selling point being the dynamic of Sheen and Tennant, which by the look of the trailer is pitch perfect. How far away is the end of the world? Let’s bump that up, please and thank you.

Along with Sheen, Tennant and Hamm the show stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of Satan, Frances McDormand as the voice of God, Nick Offerman as the U.S. Ambassador, Jack Whitehall as Newton Pulsifer, Michael McKean as Witchfinder Sergeant Shadwell, Miranda Richardson as Madame Tracy, Anna Maxwell Martin as Beelzebub and many more.
