Prepare to dine on some Lynian cuisine and polish your swords made from the bones of your enemies, because Screen Gems has snared a release date of September 4, 2020 for Sony's MONSTER HUNTER. The upcoming big screen adaptation based on the best-selling Capcom video game franchise hails from RESIDENT EVIL writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson, and features a cast of greats in Milla Jovovich (ZOOLANDER, HELLBOY), Ron Perlman (SONS OF ANARCHY, HELLBOY), Meagan Good (BRICK, THE UNBORN) and Thai martial arts sensation Tony Jaa (ONG-BAK franchise, THE PROTECTOR franchise). Anderson will direct MONSTER HUNTER from a script of his own design.

Here's the official plot synopsis for MONSTER HUNTER:

Behind our world, there is another — a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, terrifying attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man (Tony Jaa) who has found a way to fight back.

Co-starring alongside Jovovich – as well as the above-mentioned actors – are Tip "T.I." Harris (ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, TAKERS), Diego Boneta (BEFORE I FALL, ROCK OF AGES), Josh Helman (MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, JACK REACHER), and Jin Au-Yeung (THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS, FURIOUS 6), among others. Meanwhile, Anderson will produce alongside Robert Kulzer, Martin Moszkowicz, Jeremy Bolt and Dennis Berard.

Capcom's Monster Hunter video game series launched in Japan for the Playstation 2 console cira March, 2004. The game provides players with both a single-player and multiplayer experience, wherein hunters explore a plethora of dangerous, creature-infested locales in search of loot, adventure, and of course, body parts. That's right, body parts! You see, part of the draw of the Monster Hunter series is that after you murderlize one of the game's many beasts, you can use the parts left behind to craft armor, weapons, and assorted medicinal materials that will aid you when seeking out your next target. It's a grand ol' time to be sure, and it's made even better by the game's cast of Lynian characters, an AI-controlled race of warrior cats that provide backup throughout your journey. Meow that I've got your attention, be sure to pick up the latest installment of the series, MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD, which is now available to own on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows platforms.

W.S. Anderson's MONSTER HUNTER is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 4, 2020.
