Patrick Wilson & Vera Farmiga to reprise Conjuring roles for Annabelle 3

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Not to be outdone by the upcoming CHILD'S PLAY reboot, The Conjuring universe has decided to invoke the awesome power of an inspired crossover, as it's been announced that Ed and Lorraine Warren will appear in Gary Dauberman's planned ANNABELLE sequel. The Warrens' arrival in the murder doll spinoff franchise will mark the first time that the paranormal investigator couple will appear in a film belonging to the series' spinoff features – outside of a Conjuring tie-in featured in the final act of director Corin Hardy's THE NUN.

So far, Ed and Lorainne have starred in the first two Conjuring films, and from what I've gathered, will appear in a supporting role capacity for the upcoming ANNABELLE sequel. According to Deadline, who officially broke the news about the Warrens earlier today, the sixth title in The Conjuring franchise picks up with the Warrens bringing the Annabelle doll to a place where she can no longer wreak havoc: their Artifacts Room. Annabelle awakens the room’s evil which sets its sights on a new target: the Warrens’ ten year old daughter Judy. The young girl along with her babysitter (Judy’s teenage cousin) and cousin’s friend square off against the evil doll.

As the story goes, Annabelle is one of the Warrens most notable cases from their early days as detectives of all things deemed deranged and dreadful. The doll itself was owned by two nurses who, over time, began noticing strange changes in the children's toy, such as movement in her arms and legs, as well as the doll appearing in different locations despite not being touched. As it happens, the spirit of a young girl who died in the nurses' apartment, Annabelle Higgins, possessed the doll, causing the child's plaything to turn evil.

Playing Judy for the ANNABELLE sequel is THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE standout Mckenna Grace, who will be joined by Madison Iseman (JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE) for the forthcoming frightfest. Meanwhile, Dauberman will pen the script in addition to serving as the film's director as a way of marking his directorial debut. Additionally, James Wan will produce for Atomic Monster alongside Peter Safran of The Safran Company. Michael Clear and Michelle Morrissey will executive produce.
