Star Wars Battlefront Beta is right around the corner

Get ready to fire up those consoles, gamers, and maybe prepare to use a few of those sick days you have saved up. The Beta for STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT is right around the corner, and, after seeing some of the initial gameplay, you know you're going to want to spend as much time as possible jumping right in.

October 8 is when BATTLEFRONT is going to be unleashed on the public for this test round, becoming available on Xbox One, PS4 and on PC through October 12, in order to whet your appetite for that November 17 release of the full game.

Three playable modes will be available for gamers to check out, with options to play as either the Empire or the Rebel Alliance both available.

  • Walker Assault on Hoth: Fight in epic 40-player battles as a Rebel to destroy the Empire’s onslaught of AT-ATs by calling in Y-wing bombers. Or, side with the Empire and protect your walkers while utilizing their mighty weaponry to crush the Rebel objective.
  • Drop Zone on Sullust: Escape pods are crashing down and you and your team must fight to control them. With its frantic 8v8 matches, Drop Zone is sure to put your combat and strategy skills to the test.
  • Survival Mission on Tatooine: Play alone offline or with a friend via co-op or split-screen as you battle to hold off waves of Imperial forces including AT-STs, TIE fighters, elite stormtroopers and more.

Damn... 40-player battles?? This is going to be insane.

I have yet to upgrade to a next-gen console just yet, with my gametime greatly reduced as of late... but STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT is certainly the one that may get me back up on the horse, ready to neglect anything that stands in my way of flying the Millennium Falcon or fighting alongside some AT-ATs.

STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT is set to suck money from your wallet right before the holidays when it's released on November 17.
