Hold up … can this be real? It is! Netflix has finally unleashed an official trailer for INVADER ZIM: ENTER THE FLORPUS! What manner of sorcery is this?

Fans of Jhonen Vasquez's strange corner of the animation stratosphere rejoice! After what feels like forever, the excitable alien invader, Zim, and his robot companion, GIR, are back, and they're looking to drive their archnemesis, Dib Membrane, up the freakin' wall!

When INVADER ZIM: ENTER THR FLORPUS beams onto Netflix, Zim discovers that his almighty leaders never had any intention of coming to Earth and he loses confidence in himself for the first time in his life, which is the big break his human nemesis, Dib has been waiting for.

Produced by Nickelodeon, the upcoming 2-D animated feature is directed by Young Kyun Park, Hong-Seung Yoon, and Invader Zim and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac creator to the stars, Jhonen Vasquez. In addition to his directorial duties, Vasquez also played a part in writing the films script alongside Breehn Burns and Gary Wilson.

Voicing Zim for the Netflix animation that is bound to have parents scratching their heads is Richard Steven Horvitz, who will be joined by Melissa Fahn as Gaz, Andy Berman as Dib, Rodger Bumpass as Professor Membrane, Kevin McDonald as Almighty Tallest Purple, Wally Wingert as Almighty Tallest Red, Rikki Simons as GIR, and Jhonen Vasquez himself as the voices of Computer / Minimoose.

Originally, INVADER ZIM was a television series that lasted for two seasons for a total of 27 episodes courtesy of Nickelodeon Animation Studios. Though the show only lasted for two seasons, INVADER ZIM was a massive hit with the Hot Topic crowd, if you will, giving the character a cult following that demands respect.

Thankfully, fans of the character won't have to wait long for Zim's return, because INVADER ZIM: ENTER THE FLORPUS arrives tomorrow, August 16, on Netflix! Doesn't that just make you want to dance like GIR? I know it does. Go ahead. You've waited long enough. Cut that rug into infinitesimal pieces.
