New trailers for David Goyer’s Da Vinci’s Demons and Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome

JoBloJoBlo

There are two trailers that showed up today, one for the new David Goyer series DA VINCI’S DEMONS and the other for the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA prequel movie BLOOD AND CHROME, that I have not been able to stop watching. They could not be more different and yet strike me as very exciting projects.

DA VINCI’S DEMONS has been teased on Starz for almost a year now, but this trailer gives us our first look at the period drama. Starz has aired quite a few series in recent years including the outstanding BOSS and MAGIC CITY. I was never a huge fan of SPARTACUS, but with each new show, the quality gets better and better.

DA VINCI’S DEMONS is set to air in Spring 2013 and has a very interesting premise: In a world where thought and faith are controlled, Leonardo Da Vinci (Tom Riley) fights to set knowledge free. The tortured genius defies authority and throws himself into the future, forever changing the fate of mankind. From David S. Goyer co-writer of the Dark Knight Trilogy and Man of Steel, Da Vinci’s Demons will reveal the hero behind the genius.

The trailer doesn’t give too much away aside from the promise of violence, simulated sex, and a fair amount of political intrigue. I am on board with this project. Hopefully it lasts longer than the short-lived CAMELOT series.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA has been off the air for a while now and fans have been clamoring as if it has been decades. BLOOD AND CHROME has been in development for a long time and will unfortunately not go to series. But, SyFy will be airing the 2 hour pilot as an original movie next year. Machinima will also premiere it as a web series beginning November 9th. Holy crap, that is in less than a week!

Here is the awesome new trailer for BLOOD AND CHROME, the saga of the First Cyclon War.

Plot: The prequel follows young William Adama (Luke Pasqualino, UK’s Skins) during the first Cylon War. Assigned to the Galactica, the eager Adama finds himself at odds with his co-pilot, the battle-weary officer Coker (Ben Cotton, Alcatraz). Like Starz’ Spartacus, the series uses “virtual set” CGI technology that adds more expansive and spectacular backdrops than possible in a convention production.

Both of these projects look cool. I was never a big BATTLESTAR GALACTICA fan, but this looks cool enough for me to get into the series again.
