Red band trailer promises The Grudge will get messy and gross

It's been a month and a half since the release of a trailer for director Nicolas Pesce and producer Sam Raimi's reboot of THE GRUDGE, and now another trailer has already arrived online – this one a red band trailer that gives a glimpse of some of the messier, more disgusting visuals the film will have to offer. The franchise isn't in PG-13 territory anymore.

Most of the red band trailer, which is embedded below, focuses on a creepy interaction between stars Andrea Riseborough and Lin Shaye, but soon enough we're seeing things like rotting corpses and damaged body parts.

Pesce has said that this version of THE GRUDGE is

a tapestry of three different stories that interweave and all take place at slightly different times, centered around this one house that’s at the center of this case that this cop is working on."

He has also said that he has endeavored to fit this film and all previous GRUDGE and JU-ON movies into the same continuity.

Riseborough and Shaye are joined in the cast by John Cho and Demian Bichir.

THE GRUDGE is set to reach theatres on January 3rd.
