Here’s a pair of newly developed sci-fi thriller to keep you warm at night…one on the small screen, one on the big.
Relativity Media put out a missive today claiming they’ve set Ric Roman Waugh (SNITCH) to rewrite and direct the sci-fi feature TIPPING POINT. Todd Stein came up with the original idea. Temple Hill Entertainment’s Marty Bowen (The Twilight Saga) and Wyck Godfrey (The Twilight Saga) alongside Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter) and Industry Entertainment’s Andrew Deane (The Double) are producing.
Tipping Point is a tense, riveting sci-fi thriller that paints an ominous picture of the world 100 years into the future. With the world’s population approaching 10 billion, the penalty for having children without a license is death – no questions, no excuses, and no mercy. Ruthless Population Control Officer Solomon Cage lives only for his job, until the day he discovers two fugitives he’s been pursuing are the love of his life who mysteriously disappeared years ago and the 12-year-old son he never knew he had.
On to the tube. According to THR, Starz Media has just green-lit “Human Error,” a futuristic detective show where humans and robots interact on the daily. CHRONICLE producer Adam Schroeder will oversee, with British playwright Philip Gawthorne scribing.
Human Error is set in the near future where artificial humans known as “synthetics” are being phased into the civilian sector. A veteran human detective is paired with one such synth and is tasked with a seemingly simple case that ultimately leads to a larger conspiracy.
Sounds like something Ridley Scott would bust, but on the big-screen instead. I kind of like the sound of TIPPING POINT better though, probably because it is a film.
