Stephen King’s IT is now the highest grossing horror movie of all-time

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

As they say, IT was only a matter of time (ah-yuck) and now the whole mess is official, director Andres Muschietti's take on STEPHEN KING'S IT is now the highest-grossing horror movie of all-time.

At least according to some…

Yesterday, IT snatched up $3.9 million at the box-office making it's gross (thus far) a staggering $236.34 million officially putting the film ahead of the reigning horror box office champ, THE EXORCIST and that film's $232.9 million gross – in just 14 days.

That said, if THE EXORCIST's gross was adjusted for inflation, the film would have made just under $1 BILLION at the domestic box-office with a total of $983.3 million. But this isn't how box-office works so:

Hoo-ray for IT!

But then again… this is if you don't consider the following films to be "horror movies": I AM LEGEND ($256.3), JAWS ($260.0), and THE SIXTH SENSE ($293.5)… not that it matters one way or the other as IT will surly out-gross these films by the end of its run.

What do you think of IT being the highest-grossing horror movie of all time? How many times have you seen the flick? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

NOTE: This NEW FEATURETTE is badass. Must watch.
