Terence Malick cuts Michael Sheen, Amanda Peet, Barry Pepper, Jessica Chastain, and Rachel Weisz from his next movie

Terrence Malick has cut pretty much any other movie’s dream cast from his upcoming TO THE WONDER. We aren’t talking about their contracts falling through. Michael Sheen, Amanda Peet, Barry Pepper, and Jessica Chastain all filmed scenes for the movie which are now cut from the final product.

Rachel Weisz, also cut from the movie, told an Italian newspaper “I had the experience of working with him, but I will not have the pleasure of seeing my work.”

Malick has always been an odd duck in Hollywood. He has turned out amazing works that run the gamut from DAYS OF HEAVEN to TREE OF LIFE to THE THIN RED LINE and THE NEW WORLD. The guy is a master filmmaker and seems to finally be hitting the height of his career.

Plot: A womanizer who has a love affair in Paris and then moves back to Oklahoma.

TO THE WONDER currently still stars Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Olga Kurylenko, and Javier Bardem.

None of these cuts are confirmed from Malick or his people. But, if these scenes are all gone then TO THE WONDER may be a completely different movie and Malick is not exactly Mr. Director’s Cut.

I am intrigued even more by TO THE WONDER. While it premieres in Toronto next month, there is still no firm release date. Either way, Malick has certainly generated buzz for this movie fan.
