The Addams Family are getting creepy and kooky in an animated flick from MGM

I guess today was perfect to announce that THE ADDAMS FAMILY is being rebooted as an animated flick.

MGM has hired Pamela Pettler (MONSTER HOUSE, CORPSE BRIDE) to write the script. The family first came to life in the comic strips of Charles Addams who worked on them until his passing in 1988.

In 1964, the characters were reborn in the beloved live-action series hit ABC and continued until 1966. The Addams’ appeared again in animated form on episodes of SCOOBY-DOO during 1972. Then in 1973, the first animated series was played on Saturday mornings on NBC. After the popularity of the first film starring Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston, the idea to do another animated series came out in 1992. That only ran for about a year. It wasn’t really that good despite John Astin, Rip Taylor, and Carol Channing coming back to lend their voices.

I’m kinda of sad that the idea to do a stop-motion version with Tim Burton possibly directing was cancelled.

I grew-up with ADDAMS FAMILY and ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES so they have always held a special place in my heart.
