Last month saw the premiere of our first YouTube Age Gated Series on the JoBlo Horror Videos YouTube Channel, Real Slashers. You need to be at least 18 years old for YouTube to let you see it, because slashers are often packed with gore and nudity, so we couldn't shy away from those things in episodes of this show. The first episode of the series covered Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers, and the newly released second episode takes a look at the 1981 film The Burning. Directed by Tony Maylam, The Burning is best known for the gore effects provided by the legendary Tom Savini, but it also happens to have a hell of a cast: Jason Alexander, Fisher Stevens, and Holly Hunter can be seen among the campers in the film.
Here's the synopsis:
At summer camp, some teenagers pull a prank on the camp's caretaker, Cropsy (Lou David). But the joke goes terribly wrong, and the teens leave Cropsy for dead after setting him on fire. But no one keeps Cropsy down. A few years later, the burned and disfigured caretaker returns to camp equipped with his trusty shears, ready to unleash his particular brand of vengeance on a whole new group of teens. The murderous Cropsy stalks the campers in the woods, one by one.
And here's what Real Slashers is all about:
Ahhh the 80's. A simpler time where the blood ran red, the boobies swung freely, and the weed was copiously smoked. A time where rampant killers were simply excuses for excessive sex and over the top murder. Yes, we're looking at an era where the slasher movie ran wild over cinemas everywhere. Today, we're looking at "Real Slashers."
