Tina Fey heads to the middle east in the trailer for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT, based on the book "The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan", will follow journalist Kim Barker (Tina Fey) as she traverses the cultures of (you guessed it) Afghanistan and Pakistan. The book itself is described as a "darkly comic and unsparing memoir, with Barker using her wry, incisive voice to find the humor and humanity amid the rubble and heartbreak." As you can imagine, Fey is a perfect fit for the main character, and you can check out the first trailer below!

These kind of "culture shock" movies rely heavily on the leading actor, so I think we're in pretty good hands as far as Tina Fey is concerned. It certainly helps that she's surrounded herself with the likes of Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, Alfred Molina and Billy Bob Thornton. As I'm sure the humor will come across pretty well, I'm curious to see how far they take the drama and if it works.

WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT will open in theaters on March 4, 2016.
