Marvel’s What If…? teases Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa Star-Lord debut

A new poster for Marvel's What If...? teases the arrival of Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa as Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Marvel’s What If…? has debuted a new poster that features Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa Starlord. The character is set to make his MCU debut this Wednesday in the next episode of Marvel’s animated anthology series. The upcoming episode finds T’Challa’s life reimagined, as the would-be King of Wakanda sets aside his crown to become a member of The Ravagers. That’s right, folks. It’s a Guardians of the Galaxy story featuring T’Challa as Star-Lord.

To mark the occasion, Marvel has updated the Guardians Twitter account to reflect T’Challa’s new role. The account posted a new teaser poster for the series that has T’Challa’s Star-Lord standing tall and ready to take on the A-holes of the outer reaches of space.

Marvel’s What If…? takes timeless Marvel characters and reimagines them for new stories that embrace the impossible and ask the important question: What happens when the Multiverse explodes, thereby changing significant events throughout the Marvel Universe forever?

The first episode in the series introduced Marvel fans to Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter, who takes Steve Rogers’ place as Marvel’s first Super Soldier. When Steve is shot, Peggy jumps into Stark’s machine to become the ultimate weapon against evil. What follows is a rousing adventure of heroism, featuring a happy and healthy Bucky Barnes, a Hydra Stomper, and Peggy Carter going ham on Nazi scum.

In this week’s episode, Yondu (Michael Rooker), will kidnap T’Challa instead of Peter Quill, transforming him into Star-Lord. This episode promises to be an emotional one as it’s the last time that fans will hear Boseman in the role of his iconic Marvel character. My advice is to bring some super-powered tissues along for the ride.
