Ever since The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman first brought the concept of Marvel Zombies into the world with a five-issue limited series that started reaching store shelves in December of 2005, fans of both horror and Marvel have been wondering if we would ever see Marvel Zombies brought to the screen in some way. Following a quick tease of a zombie Iron Man in Spider-Man: Far from Home, zombified versions of Marvel heroes will now be getting some serious screen time in the next episode of the series What If…?, which will be released through the Disney+ streaming service tomorrow, September 8th. Ahead of the episode’s release, posters of zombie Captain America and zombie Hawkeye have arrived online, and actor Mark Ruffalo has taken to social media to share a clip that reveals how What If…? will be introducing the zombies.

This clip reveals that the zombie episode begins in an alternative version of Avengers: Infinity War, where Thanos’s lackeys are greeted on Earth by some flesh-eating heroes.

What If…? gives viewers glimpses into other realities where situations play out a bit differently than they did in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. For example, “What if Captain Carter were the First Avenger?”, or “What if there were zombies in Infinity War?” Episodes are released on Disney+ every Wednesday and are populated by

fan-favorite characters, including Peggy Carter, T’Challa, Doctor Strange, Killmonger, Thor and more. The new series, directed by Bryan Andrews with AC Bradley as head writer, features signature MCU action with a curious twist.

The voice cast of the first season includes Jeffrey Wright as Uatu, the Watcher; Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Josh Brolin as Thanos, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Karen Gillan as Nebula, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Seth Green as Howard the Duck, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Toby Jones as Arnim Zola, Neal McDonough as Dum Dum Dugan, Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue, Chris Sullivan as Taserface, Stanley Tucci as Abraham Erskine, and Taika Waititi as Korg.

The posters of zombie Captain America and Hawkeye can be seen below. Images of What If…? action figures previously revealed that the zombie episode of the show will feature a “Zombie Hunter Spider-Man” who goes around wearing Doctor Strange’s cape.
