Gosling for Lantern? Oct. 8, 2008
Source: LR
by: Omar Aviles

Ryan Gosling That trusty scoopilator El Mayimbe over at "Latino Review" just landed another cool ass scoop from his network of spies within the studios. Apparently, all the rumors you may have heard about either Seth Green, Justin Long, or David Boreanaz taking on the titular hero in the upcoming GREEN LANTERN adaptation are all bunk. According to Mayimbe, Warner Bros. would like Ryan Gosling to strap on Abin Sur’s ring as the emerald powered superhero also known as Hal Jordan. Gosling, of course, isn't the most obvious choice for the green and black spandex wearing superhero but then again Robert Downey Jr. wasn't the most obvious choice for Iron Man, was he, and look how great that turned out? In any case, no offer has been sent out to Gosling's people. He's just one of the candidates being seriously considered. What do you guys think? Good? Bad? WTF? Strike back at will!

Extra Tidbit: Gosling is featured on Canadian pop group soulDecision's album "No One Does It Better".

I think Gosling is a fantastic actor, but he still has too much of a "babyface" to really fit the Hal Jordan look. And Deadly Sinner, Green Lantern has always been one of the top characters in the DC universe. He's more of a B-level character after Batman, Superman and Wonderwoman.

GREEN LANTERN?
Let's trot out all the z-level superheroes after the Dark Knight made a zillion dollars.

OK, BUT....
Good for Gosling, I'd rather see him in another green outfit - he is my pick for The Riddler in Nolan's Batman 3

I think David Boreanaz would be great. He totally has the look of the character. And he already played a young Hal Jordan in JLA: New Frontier!

I think Ryan Gosling is a damn good choice for Green Lantern. Just not Hal Jordan.

He strikes me more as the Kyle Rayner era Green Lantern, and I think, if they went with that, it'd be a more exciting, creative adventure.

This would probably make some people laugh, but I seriously think a great Green Lantern / Hal Jordan would be...

Barry Pepper

He has a weird face but he has a great presence and can go from hero to villain convincingly (is that a word)

And I would buy that he's a great jet pilot

Green Lantern's always been my favorite DC character by far (although I am admittedly much more of a Marvel fan), and I've hoped that Gosling would play him ever since they announced they were going to do a film. Reading this has seriously made my day.

Gosling has been nominated for an Oscar and two Golde Globes and he's only 27, damn right the guy and do whatever he wants. Warner Bros. has a bazillion dollars, they can make him look like Hal Jordan, what matters is that he has the talent.

Ryan Gosling as the Green Lantern would be awesome. I have to agree with beatrixkiddo, that Ryan Gosling can do whatever he wants. Gosling is one of the best actors in Hollywood today and would give the Green Lantern justice.

Best news I have heard all day and if the studio were smart they would sign Gosling right away. I guess this ALSO means that Gosling won't be Captain America then, oh well this is just as good.

If you don't believe he is a great actor, then just go out and buy "Half Nelson". He is incredible in that movie and was the movie that made him one of my favorite actors of all time.

RE: CRUISE
Justincruise1, the second post on this topic is titled "Tom Cruise for green lantern" so who's the tool now? ass.

I repeat. gosling is a bad cast for green lantern. he looks nothing like Hal Jordan, or any other lantern that has been in the spotlight. warners need to get a clue.
