New international trailer for Grown Ups 2 with Adam Sandler is pretty much what you expect

May. 22, 2013by: Paul Shirey

So, here's another trailer for GROWN UPS 2. Chances are if you clicked on this story then you know what you're in for, whether you view that as good or bad. I'm sure the usual Sandler hate will rain into the comments section (Man, let's hope him and Michael Bay never do a movie together), but I will say this; Sandler knows his brand. Although he's made a few detours into dramatic territory (SPANGLISH, PUNCHDRUNK LOVE, REIGN OVER ME, FUNNY PEOPLE), he's settled nicely into his niche, which some love and some hate. Personally, I'm indifferent. I feel like I've grown out (natch!) of his schtick, but that doesn't mean others can't still appreciate what he has to offer, such as deer pee, tire rolls, kids saying inappropriate things, and male nudity. All in a day's work.

Enjoy(?):

Here's the synopsis:

The all-star comedy cast from Grown Ups returns (with some exciting new additions) for more summertime laughs. Lenny (Adam Sandler) has relocated his family back to the small town where he and his friends grew up. This time around, the grown ups are the ones learning lessons from their kids on a day notoriously full of surprises: the last day of school.

GROWN UPS 2, starring Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Rock, Kevin James, Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello, Nick Swardson, Colin Quinn, Steve Buscemi, Tim Meadows, Jon Lovitz, and, thankfully, Shaquelle O'Neill, hits theaters on July 12, 2013.

Yep, Salma's still got it...

Extra Tidbit: I'm not gonna lie, I did laugh a few times at this. It's got to be better than Jack and Jill, right?

Wait

in the synopsis, shouldn't the words," all star comedy" be in quotations?

He's A Money Maker Now

Adam Sandler is a product that brings in tons of cash for a specific type of comedy. When he ventures away from his niche (That's My Boy, any dramatic role) he doesn't make the piles of cash he expects to so he returns to the well that rains gold. Hating him for continuing to make money when "you" don't support him when he tries to grow as an artist is stupid. Yet, there is such a thing as "smart comedy" and if Sandler did more of that then I feel this hatred would cease. In any case, I tried

In any case, I tried to watch Jack & Jill the other night and could not get through 20 minutes before I said "fu*k this" and turned it off. I do love That's My Boy though so figure that out.

this trailer could have been much worse

it could have been twice as long and Sandler could play his own sister.

You know, when Apatow released Funny People. I got that it was really about how Adam Sandler was on top of comedy in the nineties. But after a while, just lost his form and made crappy movies for the pay cheque and that hopefully no one forgot about him. So why keep this shit fest up Sandler, just take a long break and do a project that really makes sense when it comes around.

Don't sell yourself short, Paul. We may have outgrown Sandler's old schtick, but he isn't doing that anymore really. Now he's just sleepwalking while on vacation or just taking a dump on old characters/schtick he used to do. I hate that he gets so many pretty actresses to play his wives and then gets them to be all sexy in them (since I refuse to see them). It's as believable as him as a tough guy that can actually beat up someone/ anyone. But people do watch his stuff so he's not totally to

Niche

The problem isn't his niche --- he was comic gold once upon a time. I've been a big fan of his over the years, but when you start mailing it in like he has with crap like Jack and Jill, That's My Boy, etc. it gets tiresome. He has more to offer the comedy world.

Looks Hilarious!

Wow, I thought the first movie could never be topped, but BOY was I wrong! Lets start off saying, Grown Ups has to be Adam Sandlers BEST movie since Little Nicky. I don't think there was an instance I didn't stop laughing. The cast was fantastic, the chemistry was all there, and the jokes were always on point. This one looks to follow in it's footsteps and possibly one up the original. I'll be there day ONE! Hopefully Ryan Reynolds makes a cameo.
