Anthony Daniels says Episode VII is better than The Empire Strikes Back

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

There are certain things that STAR WARS fans know to be true: the prequels fail in comparison to the original trilogy and THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is the best film in the saga. There is not much debating either point, but when someone involved with the movies themselves makes a statement to the contrary, fans sit up and notice. While it may be unforgivable to hear praise heaped upon the prequels, the unknown merit in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII makes this worth discussing.

Anthony Daniels, the man responsible for bringing C-3PO to life, has just wrapped STAR WARS: EPISODE VII and made the following statement on Twitter.

Expecting someone starring in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII to say anything less than stellar about the new film is highly unlikely, but to specifically call it out as being better than THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is a dangerous statement. With Lawrence Kasdan, the man who wrote THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, working alongside J.J. Abrams, there is a higher likelihood of this statement being true more than at any other time in the STAR WARS saga. Here is hoping this is not just wishful thinking but a promise from Anthony Daniels.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII hits theaters on December 18, 2015.
