The British drama Boiling Point will be getting a new TV series over at the BBC that will be picking up after the conclusion of the film. The Hollywood Reporter shares the news that the continuation will be a five-part drama that will take place six months after the film. Boiling Point garnered acclaim for the film’s star, Stephen Graham, with his first BAFTA nomination. The film would get nominated for a number of awards as well.

The movie showcased an evening at a restaurant that was presented in one shot a la Birdman. THR reports that the new series, which will not be in one shot, “will pick up six months on from where the film left off, with sous chef Carly (Vinette Robinson) now head chef at her own restaurant, and many of the feature’s original cast – including Graham as Andy and Hannah Walters as Emily — reprising their roles alongside her.” Stephen Graham and Hannah Walters will serve as executive producers, just as they did on the film. The director and co-writer of the film, Philip Barantini, will also be returning to direct a couple of episodes.

Graham and Walters share their excitement on the progressing story, “The incredible reaction to the film, its story and specifically the characters along with the huge desire to know more and delve deeper into their worlds has led us to create a drama series with the BBC in which we will keep the audience gripped, intrigued and involved in each of the characters’ journeys. To be able to explore and go on a journey with our established and new characters will be a rollercoaster of feelings and emotions, but a rollercoaster you will want to keep getting back on. Our aim is to make powerful drama which reflects social realism, raising real-life issues which have an effect on each and every one of us.”

The film opened to great critical success in 2021 with a massive number of award nominations from different organizations, including 11 BIFA nominations.
