Back in 1995 Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy – along with writer/director Richard Linklater – created a modern day romantic classic with BEFORE SUNRISE. They continued this incredible story in 2004 with BEFORE SUNSET. Thankfully, the three have collaborated once again to explore the relationship between Celine and Jesse in the fantastic new film BEFORE MIDNIGHT. Once again, their latest is an insightful and honest look at love and relationships, with two amazing lead performances.

When I sat down with Julie and Ethan, they talked about growing with these characters. In the film, Jesse and Celine have a family of their own and they are facing very real issues that come from following your passion. While the new film is decidedly darker than the first two, it is wonderful to see them grow with each other. The two immensely talented actors also talked about the challenge of doing a fourteen minute scene without any takes and whether or not it is easier the third time around. BEFORE MIDNIGHT is well worth experiencing whether you’ve seen the first two films or not. It opens this Friday in limited release.
