Hello Stranger: Jordana Brewster, Sam Worthington, Luke Grimes star in sci-fi thriller

Jordana Brewster (The Fast and the Furious) and Sam Worthington (Avatar) have signed on to play lead roles in the sci-fi thriller Hello Stranger, which Luke Grimes (Yellowstone) has been attached to star in since September. April Mullen (Wander) will be directing the film from a screenplay by Ryan Christopher Churchill. This will be the first produced feature for Churchill, who previously wrote, directed, and starred in the 2009 short film Love Your Enemy.

The story of Hello Stranger centers on Brewster’s character Faye, who

attempts to replace her newly deceased husband, Evan (Grimes) with an android simulant (SIM). Although SIM Evan appears like human Evan in everyway, Faye does not feel the same love for SIM Evan as it does for her. SIM Evan tries to win Faye back, while at the same time, on-the-run from a government agent (Worthington) chasing down SIMS who have become “conscious,” and could potentially be a threat to humankind.

Wander‘s Tim Doiron and James van der Woerd are producing Hello Stranger in association with their production company Wango Films, while Myriad’s Kirk D’Amico serves as executive producer.

Doiron provided the following statement to Deadline:

The addition of Sam and Jordana to Hello Stranger takes an already stellar creative team to the next level. We have secured our dream cast for this film and cannot wait to bring this project to life.”

They have assembled a solid cast for this one (I have been a fan of Brewster’s since the days of The Faculty) and the plot synopsis makes it sound pretty interesting, so I’ll be keeping an eye on Hello Stranger as it continues to move forward.
