Inside Miguel Angel Vivas

While we're still waiting for word on a release for the remake of Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury's 2007 bloodbath INSIDE here in the United States, the film is already starting to make its way out into other parts of the world. Having opened last year's Sitges Festival, INSIDE got a theatrical release in Spain last month and will be making its UK premiere at FrightFest in London next Saturday, August 26th. It will also soon be released in Mexico – soon enough that a trailer has arrived online.

Directed by KIDNAPPED's Miguel Ángel Vivas from a screenplay by [REC] co-creator Jaume Balagueró and his [REC] 2 and 4 co-writer Manu Diez, the remake tells the following story:

Pregnant and depressed, a young widow tries to rebuild her life following the fateful car accident where she lost her husband and partially lost her hearing. Now, about to go into labor, she’s living in a remote house in the suburbs when, one Christmas night, she receives an unexpected visit from another woman with a devastating objective: to rip the child she’s carrying from inside her. But a mother’s fury when it comes to protecting her child should never be underestimated.

This take on INSIDE was produced by the Spanish company Nostromo Pictures, which is why it was first released in Spain and the trailer we saw for it a while back was in Spanish without any subtitles. The trailer below is in English with Spanish subtitles, finally giving us a chance to hear the actors speaking their lines.

The remake stars Rachel Nichols, Laura Harring, Stany Coppet, Ben Temple, and Andrea Tivadar.

I'm a big fan of the original INSIDE and am really looking forward to checking out the remake, interested in seeing how this creative team handled the material. We'll be able to watch it in the U.S. someday…
