Trailer: Quibi’s The Stranger looks like a modern day take on The Hitcher

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The upcoming short form mobile streaming service Quibi has released a trailer for their series The Stranger, which has nothing to do with the series of the same name that was recently released on the Netflix streaming service but does look like it was strongly inspired by THE HITCHER.

The trailer is embedded above. As we pointed out when the trailer link was shared on our Arrow in the Head Facebook page, this show has the same premise as THE HITCHER, "but updated, similar dialogue, similar framing".

Created by writer/director/executive producer Veena Sud, The Stranger stars Maika Monroe of THE GUESTIT FOLLOWS, and VILLAINS as

an unassuming young rideshare driver who is thrown into her worst nightmare when a mysterious Hollywood Hills passenger enters her car. Her terrifying ride with the stranger unfolds over 12 hours as she navigates the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles in a chilling game of cat and mouse.

Dane DeHaan plays the homicidal maniac who gets into Monroe's car. The cast also includes Avan Jogia.

Quibi gets its name from the fact that it will offer "quick bites" of entertainment. Intended to be watched on your smart phone while you're on the go, episodes of Quibi shows will be in the range of 10 minutes or less. The service is set to launch on April 6th.

Check out the trailer for The Stranger and see if it makes you want to subscribe to Quibi.
