Two more join the cast of Netflix's Joe Hill series Locke & Key

Laysla De Oliveira The Gifted

Nearly a decade worth of work has been put into turning Joe Hill's IDW comic book series Locke & Key into a television series. Two different pilots were written, cast, and filmed over the years. One was rejected by Fox, the other by Hulu. But now the series is actually going to happen, as Netflix has ordered a 10 episode first season of the Locke & Key TV show.

Emilia Jones, Connor Jessup, and Jackson Robert Scott will be starring in the horror-fantasy series as

siblings Kinsey, Tyler and Bode who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. Little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to attain them.

Also in the cast are Darby Stanchfield as the Locke siblings' mother Nina, Griffin Gluck as Kinsey's friend Gabe, Sherri Saum as a teacher with a mysterious history, and Steven Williams as a teacher who connects with the Locke family.

Now we can add two more to the list, as Laysla De Oliveira is joining the cast as a series regular, while Kevin Alves has signed on for a recurring role.

De Oliveira's character is named Dodge, and she's described as "a beautiful, unpredictable and sinister demon in human form that torments the Locke family." Since she's a regular, I guess we're going to be seeing her tormenting them quite often.

Alves will be playing Javi, a friend of Tyler's who is "the colorful life of the party and doesn't take life too seriously."

De Oliveira's previous credits include the TV shows Covert Affairs, Nikita, iZombie, and The Gifted (pictured above). Alves has appeared on Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments and Degrassi: The Next Generation.

The Netflix version of Locke & Key was created by Hill and developed by Carlton Cuse, Aron Eli Coleite, and Meredith Averill. Hill wrote the first episode with Coleite. Cuse and Averill are the showrunners.
