Karen Gillan to fight her clone to the death in Dual

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Best known for playing the roles of Nebula in the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and AVENGERS films, Amy Pond in the Doctor Who TV series, and gaming avatar Ruby Roundhouse in the recent JUMANJI films, Karen Gillan has now signed on to star in the sci-fi thriller DUAL for writer/director Riley Stearns.

Co-starring Aaron Paul, Beulah Koale, and Martha Kelly, with an appearance by Stearns' THE ART OF SELF DEFENSE star Jesse Eisenberg, DUAL will tell the story of

a woman (Gillan) who, after receiving a terminal diagnosis, opts for a cloning procedure to ease her loss on her friends and family. When she makes a miraculous recovery, her attempts to have her clone decommissioned fail and lead to a court-mandated duel to the death.

Any project involving Gillan instantly has my attention, but a sci-fi thriller that will have her fighting in a death match against a clone of herself sounds especially interesting.

DUAL is aiming to go into production later this summer, if the COVID-19 situation has calmed down enough for that to be possible. Stearns is producing the film with XYZ Films.
