New trailer released for True Memoirs of an International Assassin

So a trailer has just been released for the Netflix action/comedy (though both those words might need to have quotation marks around them) TRUE MEMOIRS OF AN INTERNATIONAL ASSASSIN. It stars Kevin James as a fiction author who sells his book to a publisher, which the publisher then titles as a "true memoir" of an assassin rather than the fictional story it was supposed to be. This leads to terrorists thinking the author is himself an assassin, getting him involved in real espionage.

The trailer is below:

Um, okay. So it doesn't look terrible, just super forgetable. I literally just saw this a minute ago, and I can't remember one single action beat or joke aside from Andy Garcia throwing a knife at Kevin James' chest while he yells in pain "You brought a knife to a gunfight!". And that was a chuckle at best.

My main problem is the same problem with HERE COMES THE BOOM – Kevin James is just secretly a badass. It would be more interesting if he found a way to outsmart or use a skill he actually possesses to defeat the villains than simply "I was always a badass and somehow didn't know it". It's probably part of a half-assed self-realization arc, but it still feels cheap and lazy.

But, like I said, it doesn't look pants-shittingly awful (which applies, literally, to shit like RIDICULOUS 6) and could be a good time-killer if you're bored, lazy, and need to stave off that ever encroaching feeling of existential dread.

TRUE MEMOIRS OF AN INTERNATIONAL ASSASSIN, co-starring Andy Garcia and Rob Riggle, will start streaming November 11th, 2016.
